In order to vote in any election, you must first be a registered voter. The registration process in New York is quick and easy, and there are a variety of ways you can register. The deadlines for the 2008 elections are quickly approaching, so be sure to register today if you have not already. The primary registration deadline is August 15th and the primary is held on September 9th. Click here to register.

- Primary - Tuesday, September 9, 2008
- General - Tuesday, November 4, 2008
Voter Registration dates:
- Primary - Friday, August 15, 2008
- General - Saturday, October 25, 2008
To register to vote in New York, you must meet the following requirements:
- be a citizen of the United States
- be a resident of the county, or of the City of New York, at least 30 days before an election
- be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (Note: You must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary, or other election in which you want to vote)
- not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction
- not currently be judged incompetent by order of a court of competent judicial authority
- not claim the right to vote elsewhere.
